The Yellow House!

Hey everyone! I know it's been forever since the last time I blogged.. but that's kind of how my blogging works, so what else is new? As I sit here waiting for the Laker game to start on this lovely (non-snowy!) Christmas day, I figure now is as gooda time as any! It's been so long that I don't even know where to start!

First of all, I moved into a new house. Well, it's a really really old house, actually, but new to me. It's a little yellow house (and that's what we call it.. "The Yellow House.") in Orem, and I absolutely LOVE it. I live with two of my good friends from work, Erika and Sydney (in the picture), and then four other girls, Natalie, Lizz, Susan, and Jules. There are a bunch of us, but the house is a lot bigger than it looks. We each have our own rooms and honestly, you don't even know if other girls are home sometimes! But yeah, we're the "Yellow House Girls!" (: Since we moved in we've done a ton of cleaning and a bit of decorating to try to make it feel more like home. So far, I'd say we've done a pretty good job! We're all becoming such good friends, which always makes living with roommates so much more fun! We actually just got a new addition to the house, and she happens to have four legs and some spots... yes, we got a puppy!!! She's tiiiiny!! (MUCH smaller than she looks in the picture, actually...) Supposedly she's a jack russell terrier mixed with a miniature schnauzer, buuut I think she's got some chihuahua in her. Regardless, she's really cute and we love her! She doesn't 100% have a name yet.. we like Phoebe.. and I like the name Eleanor (after Eleanor Roosevelt) and then we could call her Elle or Ellie for short. But we'll see. She's really funny because she's a little princess!!! She loves to sit on my lap and cuddle... she sleeps with me all night! She's still learning to go outside to go potty but other than that she's really well behaved. My favorite is probably how she sits on my lap whenever I do my hair and makeup. (:

I think those are probably the biggest changes in my life as of lately... So hopefully this time I can keep up with my blogging! Time for the Laker game!!! Until next time! (:

A Fresh Start

I'm the worst blogger ever. Sorry guys! I've decided that from now on I will blog at least once a week. Maybe... at least once a month. We'll see how it goes!

Anyways, there are a few fun things that I've been doing lately, so here we go!

1. I moved!... like, a month and a half ago, actually. Sadly, I no longer live with J & M. We still visit with each other though! I now live at the Branbury, in Provo. And I have real roommates! Like, girls my age that aren't related to me! Fun, huh? Yes. I really like living here! I originally only signed for summer, however, I've enjoyed it here so much that I've decided that I'm going to renew my contract for Fall and Winter. (Yay!)

So here is a picture of my roommates and I! (Sarah, Lyndsy, Britta, Kendra) We'll have to take some cuter pictures in the future haha!

2. I got another job! That makes a total of 3 jobs. Can't get enough of that work... So now I work at Hollister Co., Coldstone Creamery, and my newest addition to my resume is the In N Out in American Fork! (Yeah, store 239!) It's been a lot of fun working there. We get a meal every time we work, which could quite possibly present a problem. Apparently I have no self control, therefore, don't be surprised if the next time you see me, I weigh like.. 500 lbs. Enough said about that! We have our company picnic coming up which will be SO FUN! In N Out has rented out Seven Peaks for a couple days. I get to bring a guest, but I still haven't figured out who that'll be... hmm... OH! And- I just became a level 2! As we get certified for different things, we move up in levels. So there are 7 levels, and you get raises along the way and what not. (:

3. I'm FINALLY visiting home! It's been a whole 6 months since I moved from my beloved California, and oh how I've missed it!!! Don't get me wrong, Utah is growing on me, but I'm not really to keen on the whole snowing in MAY thing. And rainy rainy rainy June. Whatever. I'm getting depressed just thinking about it. The weather here is so stupid. It started getting sunny and warm towards the end of March, and then on April 1st.. APRIL FOOLS! STILL WINTER! Ugh. Suffice it to say, I'll be enjoying some beach action very soon. (: A nice week of some real summer.

I'm sure there's been a lot of other blog-worthy things going on, considering that I haven't blogged in like, forever. But I really need to get to bed. 7am work. YAY.. -__-

Last Saturday, J, M, and I had quite the adventure. Car shopping in Salt Lake. Needless to say, I NEED a car. So we went to look at a few used cars, in hopes of finding something that would work for me. We went to a few shady little dealerships.. saw an Audi A4.. a Ford Focus.. but best of all-- a VW Beetle. It was our very favorite! In fact, I don't know why we decided not to get it!.. Oh wait, yes I do.

Thoughts of J, M, & S: "Hmm.. it look's pretty good from the outside.. let's take it for a test drive!"
Jess: "Wouldn't that be funny if it broke down while we were driving it?"

about 8 minutes later...

Mitch: "How's the acceleration?"
Sarah: "It's pretty good!..

(5 seconds later)

..NOT GOOD NOT GOOD! IT'S NOT GOING!!! IT'S STOPPING!!"

The little bug died on the corner of State and.. some number street. Some really nice guys helped Mitch push it into a little parking lot, and we called the shady little dealership to let them know that their car was toast. The guy said he would come pick us up, but we were cold, so we started walking back to the dealership so that we could just get outta there.. the guy pulled up (once we were almost back to the dealership..) and gave us a ride the rest of the way.. and he had a gas can in the back of the truck that he came in.. -_- we told him it was NOT out of gas.. did he not believe us??... Anyways.. that was our exciting adventure where we killed the bug. No more shady little dealerships for us.

RIP little bug...

Sooo it's been forever since I last blogged. I'm not very good about blogging, actually. And I'm not about to give a fully detailed post about everything that's happened since... September? HA. Anyways, a few fun things that have happened

:
1. Tracy had her bambino- woohoo- everyone already knows about that. But since I'm basically the only one who hasn't blogged about my new nephew, Nathan, I just wanted to say for the record: I do like him. My lack of blogging about him in now way reflects my personal feelings towards the infant. He's cute. :)

2. Em and Jeff came to visit for Thanksgiving! We spent a lot of time at my grandparents' house, and had a fun time cooking a Thanksgiving feast that was Jeff-proof :) I think he was able to eat almost everything!

3. Jess and Mitch came for New Years! We did a good job staying up until... oh... 11:45? Happy New Year! ;) On Saturday, Jess, Tracy, Steph, and I went and got our nails done :) Then, Jess and I (+ Tracy) made pomegranate jelly with Grandma!! :) It's basically the greatest thing ever. Sooo Jess and Mitch stayed until Sunday, for Nathan's blessing, and then KIDNAPPED me and brought me home with them to Utah! Just kidding- I went willingly :) Said lots of sad goodbyes... But that brings me to my next fun thing...

4. I MOVED! To Provo! Living with J & M & the kitties again! We've been having a fantastic time together! I even have my own room! WITH A BED THAT I LOVE!!! (even though we all know how fond I am of sleeping on couches...haha) Something else that's cool is that now I'm close to Emily!! (and my future bro-in-law). They came over for a few hours last night and played with us for a bit. FUN!

5. I started school today and it's way fun! I love UVU already! Still lots to get figured out... but whatever! (Figure out what? Hmm.. maybe things like.. what classes am I taking? long story. don't ask. Ha!) Also, I enrolled in my institute classes today! I. Love. Institute. Here's the only problem though- I can never decide which classes I want to take. I only need one... but somehow I ended up with 3! All 3 of which I'm WAY excited about! Can't wait till Monday!

I think those are the main things... I'm probably leaving a ton of stuff out... But that's my life, in a nutshell! Love it! :)

So school started last Monday... and after the huge hassle of trying to add classes, I've finally gotten it all figured out! I'm taking meteorology, history of the african american, sociology, human geography, and philosophy: logic in practice! 3 of my classes don't start until mid-October, and 2 of those ones are online classes! So for now I'm done with school by 9:30 Monday through Thursday! Woohoo! Who ever thought I'd be such an early bird? But I love having the whole day to do things! I've been able to go to the gym every day... spend lots of time with Mom... Do whatever else I feel like doing... Now if only I got scheduled for more hours at work...!

From July 24th to August 9th, I was in Maine!!! Ian goes every summer to visit his family out that way, and this time, I was lucky enough to go with him!

For the first week, we stayed at his grandma's place in Bath, ME. She's AWESOME. She even has this cat, Jerew? Juroooo? sp?... Anyways, that cat is a B-R-A-T. She doesn't like anyone. She doesn't really play. She hisses when you try to pet her. She doesn't eat Pop Rocks when you want her to... the only good thing she does is wait by the door for you to come home... but once you get there, she goes off and does her own thing. Ugh. Also, it rained about every other day. On the days that it didn't rain, it was super nice weather. They say it's the worst summer they've had in years!.. But it sure is beautiful over there!

And we did lots of fun things!

we went to the beach a lot and we made the ULTIMATE SAND CASTLE and watched until it got washed away!...

and we went golfing! (my first time!... 9 holes later and whatdya know? I LOVE GOLF!) I'm really not very good yet, but hey, that's what can be expected! Later in the week we also went to the driving range... and I got a golfing glove! :)

On Thursday, Ian and I went with Grammy on the bus with the seniors on their trip to the Christmas Tree Shops, which is a store in Portland. It was like a field trip for the senior citizens! They have a really good program for the seniors.. stuff to do almost every day! (way cool!) And after the CTSs we went to some buffet place and ate... From there, Ian's cousin Kate (who lives in Portland) picked us up and we stayed in Portland and spent a couple days with her & her boyfriend Phil. We walked around downtown Portland.. there's a bunch of little shops where everything is way overpriced. Cute, though. Then we went to the Portland Head Light! There was a little museum inside so we went in and looked around a little bit.. And of course it was right on the water, so there was a GORGEOUS view! (All of Maine is SO pretty though...)

That night we went to Seadog's? for dinner and to the movies where we saw The Proposal (which I thought was really good!)... We stayed at Kate/Phil's apartment that night, and just kinda hung out the next day and then we went back to Bath.

Saturday we spent at the Popham Beach, (Ian's family has a cottage right on the beach... a 2 minute walk and you're at the water!) That night we went to a wedding reception for a girl that Ian's family knew.. We hung out there for like.. an hour? and ate the best cheesecake I've ever had in my life!!! There was music and dancing and everyone was having a great time!.. Except that there are tons of mosquitoes and they SUCK.. (haha)

On Sunday, we went to Eleanor's cottage for a little birthday party. (Eleanor is one of Grammy's friends since grade school!) It was a little shared party for E and a couple other people who had birthdays. We ate some "lobstah", clams, and lots of other things, and we even got rained on a little! I'm really not a big fan of shellfish, so I cracked open my lobster, ate a couple bites, and Ian ate the rest for me :) but cracking it open to get the meat out is pretty fun!

Monday morning Ian, Grammy, and I moved down to the cottage at Popham to spend the rest of the week there. It was Ian's birthday! He ran the 17 miles from Bath to the cottage in Popham! It took him 2 hours and 24 mins!!! (WOW! Good job Ian!) If it was MY birthday (which btw, is coming up! Sept 5th!) I would NOT want to run 17 miles. I wouldn't even want to run 1 mile! But he did it! And got a nice big blister on the bottom of his foot to show for it! Grammy and I drove and met him at the cottage. After a few hours we went back to Bath and went to dinner at Maxwells with Brian and Ginny for Ian's birthday. We had ice cream cake and presents back at Grammy's after, then went back to Popham.

We had really good weather pretty much the whole 2nd week. We spent a lot of time at the beach, of course! Got a lot of reading done and got little burnt. AND! I HATE HORSEFLIES. They're the most ridiculous and annoying little pests!!! We also went to Fort Popham, which was just a fort they used during a few wars (Civil War, WWI, WWII). It really only saw minor action, but its cool none-the-less!

(On the other side of the wall is ocean! There were lots of "windows" where they would've shot cannons through and stuff... interesting!)

Ian's mom flew in on Wednesday, and we were way excited to have her come! She stayed down at the cottage with us, and Grammy moved back up to Bath. The rest of the trip was just a whole lot of relaxing. We went out to eat a few times, and hung out on the beach a lot... Ian and I golfed another 9 holes on Thursday.. and a bunch of Ian's parents' friends came over on Saturday for lobsters and hanging out.. then Ian and I had a bonfire Saturday night... lots of things! Then on Sunday, the trip sadly came to an end. :( None of us really wanted to leave, but it was time to come back to the real world! (UGH!) But the trip was really fun and I LOVE MAINE! :)

Hiking the Grand Canyon

Pretty much everyone that reads my blog was hiking with us, so I don't really feel that I need to go into a whole lot of detail about what we did... for those of you who weren't there, my family and I (+ a few others) hiked the Grand Canyon from the North Rim to the South Rim on May 23, 2009. The hike is about 24 miles... and it's super pretty. We left from the North Rim at about 5:45 am. I hiked the first few miles with Freddy, Em, Jeff.. a little with Mom and Jess in the beginning.. but for the majority of the hike, Freddy and I were on our own. We got to Phantom Ranch (at the bottom of the canyon) at about 11:00, and stayed there for almost an hour... and I sent a postcard by mule! (Jess didn't even go inside the canteen when she got there... that still baffles me!)

For the most part, I was fine throughout the hike. My feet got a few blisters, but I got some moleskin at Phantom, and they didn't bother me much until after we'd finished the hike. (I should have taken pictures of them for you all too see! Hmph. Too bad i didn't think of it sooner...) Anyways, it rained a little, which was nice. After Phantom Ranch, I guess Freddy and I took the wrong trail, and ended up doing a harder, steeper trail (ugh.) but still made it out in good time.

The trail we took didn't have any water along the way, but luckily, we were saved before we ran out of water-- let me explain. I had about an inch of Gatorade left in my bottle, and Freddy was in the same boat. Then a couple came to pass us and they asked us if we'd seen a man that was having trouble with his leg, because they had water for him. We hadn't seen him, and I guess nobody else had either. We asked them how much farther it was to the trail head. "A little over 2 miles," they said. "Are there any rest stops along the way?" we asked. "Yes, one that's a little over a mile from here," they pointed to a small house-ish thing off in the distance. "Is there water there?" we asked. "No, do you need some?" They sounded panicked at the thought of us running out of water... Freddy and I looked at eachother, and sheepishly, we admitted that we had little water to last us the rest of the way. "HERE! TAKE THIS!" they said cheerfully, as they handed us a full bottle of Powerade! "We'd hate to have you run into any trouble!" Sooo they gave us a whole thing of water! Woohoo! I'd probably still be down there, if it wasn't for them!

Anyways, we made lots of fun memories down there, and I was sore for a couple days after. I walked like an old lady. I plan on doing the hike again either in October or next May! Can't wait! (Or maybe I can...) Definitely a cool experience!

#87 Visit the zoo

I. LOVE. THE ZOO!

Saturday morning, Ian, his parents, and I left for San Diego! We walked around a bunch... We went to this village that had a bunch of little shops and stuff. And a carousel--which we rode (: It was right down the street from our hotel, so we spent a couples hours there, then walked back... Something fun about San Diego is that there's so many people outside! like, ALL THE TIME! Don't see that in Walnut... Then we just kinda hung out in the hotel for a while.. went to dinner.. and called it a night.

On Sunday we went to the San Diego Zoo!! SOOO FUN! The only thing was, for some reason-- I guess cause it's spring now-- all the animals were mating. Not even kidding, we saw like 20 couples of animals doing it.. in public. Awkward... We also saw the peacocks courting the girl peacock! It was sooo cute. They were chillin on the roof of a gift shop... and the guy had his feathers all spread out for the girl and then there was another guy one that was shrieking.. because he was jealous and wanted attention or something. Really cool though. And there was a newborn giraffe! CUTE! What else.. OH. There were animals breastfeeding (I took pictures for Mom.. but haven't uploaded them yet) I thought she'd like that :) And some animals suck because they just like to sleep, like the lions, tigers, and bears. Seriously. Anyways, it was a really fun day! We ate at the Flamingo Cafe.. got churros.. ice cream.. walked around for FIVE HOURS. All that zoo-stuff. After a long day of rhinos and flamingos, we had a nice long 2 hour drive home. Which I slept almost the whole way :)

My CTR ring came, and it is too big. Ugh. I need to exchange it.

Also, Tracy's been reading the Twilight books. ALL of them. In like, a week! Soooo I have to hurry and finish the last one before she beats me. She has WAY more time to read then I do.

Two good things though: I'm not sick anymore! (I was sick for like 2 weeks. NOT my kind of fun.) And Ian and I dyed eggs for Easter! (: I would've taken pictures.. they were cool. But I had a not-so-fun-fever that day.

YAY!!!! I ordered my new scriptures and CTR ring a few days ago. It was either those, or my purse that I really wanted... I figured the purse can wait. But I'm super excited for them to come. When I was like, 8 (ish??) I had a CTR ring that a lady in our ward gave me that was cute and girly but it got smashed in the piano bench.. sooo yeah. Anyways, I found that same one online and I decided to get it! NOW I'LL NEVER DO ANYTHING WRONG EVER AGAIN!!! Pshh.. or well, at least I'll try! Can't wait for them to actually come though... that'll be the exciting part. Wahoo! :)

Ian and I went to the Ducks' game tonight! It was pretty fun.. not a whole lot to tell about. Ducks lost, 3-4... It was a pretty good game though. And I had my heart set on getting a Ducks shirt, which was really frustrating because pretty much EVERYTHING was size XL or XXL. Not really my size... so I we tried the kids shirts, and ended up getting one that kinda makes me look/feel like a pumpkin! Its ORANGE. On the bright side (haha) it has Getzlaf #15 on the back. Which is the player I wanted, and it was awfully hard to find one with his number. Anyways, it was a fun night!

I don't have a ton of time to blog right now, but just thought I'd update this one... I finished Eclipse a couple days ago! I'm really anxious to read the next one... but haven't gotten around to picking it up yet. Fun though, huh? :)

Last thing, I got the movie Twilight!!! (It came out Saturday... bought it Saturday... and I've watched it twice so far!) It's pretty good!

Sooo, for those of you who haven't read the Twilight books, YOU SHOULD! When I heard that Twilight was coming out as a movie, everyone was telling me to read the book. So I did. I thought it'd be kinda lame cause its like.. about vampires. Not only that, if you know me, you may know that I'm not real big on reading. But these books are actually REALLY good! Once you start reading it, you won't want to put it down! Anyways, I finished the 2nd book, New Moon, yesterday!! Now I've started the 3rd, Eclipse. AAAWESOOOME! (:

AND TWILIGHT COMES OUT ON DVD MARCH 21, 2009!!

You should all definitely try to read the books before they come out as movies! They're really good!

There's also a book coming out soon, called Midnight Sun. It's Edwards point of view for Twilight. It's gonna be pretty awesome too! Can't wait for that one to come out!
